Plus, no need to worry about cables or more connections—You can take great digital still photos on a Memory Stick® media to share your favorite moments with friends and family, using its Memory Stick® Media slot. (Memory Stick® media sold separately). With the touch of a button, users can improve their video in dark and low-light settings by activating one of two recording modes. Sony's super NightShot® feature enables monochrome video taping in total darkness. By selecting Color Mode, full-color video is recorded in dimly lit places, enabling users to capture video of sleeping babies and nocturnal animals in color.

Digital 8™ Video Recording 
Records outstanding digital picture and sound on affordable Hi8 and 8mm tapes. Offers up to 500 lines of resolution with 3X the color bandwidth of VHS and significantly lower video noise. Sony's Digital8 camcorders deliver high-quality digital video and audio. The new Digital8 system achieves stunning picture quality, with up to 500 lines of horizontal resolution, and records high-quality 12-bit or 16-bit PCM digital stereo audio. Digital8 camcorder's recording pattern allows digital recording on 8mm or Hi8 tapes . Digital8 camcorders are the evolution of the 8mm format. It is the only digital camcorder format that lets you fast forward to digital quality without leaving your analog past behind. 

MPEG Movie Mode
Originally found on step-up Sony Digital Still Cameras, Sony presents another camcorder first -- MPEG Movie Mode for select Handycam® Camcorders. Capture MPEG digital video and store it directly to your Memory Stick® Media. Movie length ranges from 5 seconds to the length allowed by the capacity of your memory stick with MPEG Movie EX. Take the "Best Of" scene recorded on video tape, for example -- the groom kissing the bride on the wedding day, convert it to an MPEG Movie and share it with family and friends via the internet.  Save your MPEG movies onto a Sony Memory Stick! The Video Email mode is ideal resolution for sharing video (160 x 112) and Presentation mode increases the resolution to 320 x 240. 

Digital Still Memory Mode 
Capture digital still images directly onto Memory Stick® media for easy transfer to e-mail, printing, or sharing with compatible Memory Stick devices. Digital still images can be captured while in Memory Mode, or images from the videotape can be captured onto Memory Stick media. This feature provides the Dual Function of having one camera for video and still images, and provides the user with a whole new world of imaging possibilities. 

Digital Still Camera Mode
Capture high quality mega pixel digital still images at up to 640 x 480 resolution, directly onto Memory Stick® media. Images are stored in JPEG format, providing easy transfer to PCs for email, printing, or sharing with family and friends. 

Memory Stick™ Digital Storage Media
Sony DCR-TRV355E Handycam accepts both Memory Stick and the newly introduced Memory Stick Pro Format Media . This enables the handycam to accept Memory with capacity as high as 1GB . 

Super NightShot™ Infrared System 
Every Sony Handycam camcorder delivers superb performance in low light. Some even shoot beautifully in no light! The Super NightShot system enables You to shoot subjects up to 10 feet away in total darkness. This improved version of the NightShot system provides better overall picture quality by automatically selecting from two shutter speeds. The secret is an infrared light at the front of the camcorder.

To keep You informed of remaining power, Sony's Battery meter spells out remaining battery time in minutes-right on the camcorder's LCD monitor or viewfinder.  Sony InfoLithium® Batteries communicate with your Handycam camcorder's AccuPower™ meter, telling you how much shooting time remains. And because they resist "memory effect," Sony InfoLithium Batteries do not prematurely reduce recording time. It's a smart way to be ready for action. 

SteadyShot™ Picture Stabilization
The SteadyShot system offers one of the most effective, and the most power efficient, image stabilization systems available on the market. SteadyShot utilizes motion sensors located in the lens assembly area that are designed to sense camcorder motion, not subject motion. 

The Hyper-Precision SteadyShot system uses an oversized CCD chip (up to 380K pixels). Only 230K pixels are required to deliver excellent picture quality. The extra pixels on the chip can be used to compensate for both horizontal and vertical motion of the camcorder, different from digital image stabilizing systems. 

SteadyShot virtually eliminates camcorder shake, without degrading the picture quality. The Hyper-Precision CCD simply turns off and on the appropriate pixels every 1/60th of a second to compensate for the motion of the camera. Furthermore, because the Hyper-Precision system doesn't require complex moving parts, it draws significantly less power from the camcorder battery.

Easy dubbing 
The advantage of Easy Dubbing is that there is no need for a LANC cable. With this neat feature, users can copy video footage scene by scene using the camcorder to control the system. The two pieces of equipment communicate by pre-subscribed infrared codes to synchronise recording. In Normal mode, the camcorder provides a number of editing facilities, such as fade in and fade out of a scene and the titling of each scene. 

Program AE and Maunal Focusing 
You have 6 Program AE Modes for your shooting requirements. SpotLight , Potrait , Sports , Beach & Ski , Sunset / Moon and Lanscape Modes . Also it has a Manual Focusing Ring 

Fader
Fader effect gives you the possibility to alter the way you fade from one shot to another. Select from different fade modes to make smooth and creative transitions from scene to scene. Black, Mosaic, Monotone, Bounce and Stripe.

16:9 Wide Recording 
Borders will appear in LCD or viewfinder (looks like cinema) for monitoring; however, image will be recorded in full style. 

Battery Info Button
Sony has replaced the side LCD Monitor (which used to show the battery level at time of charging) on their previous handycam models with a "BATTERY INFO" Button in the current models . ‘Battery Info’ tells you how much charge and recording time you have just by pressing a button before using the camcorder
